Final Wooddale Update

Last night, the Edina City Council voted to keep the status quo on Wooddale Avenue, rejecting the options to remove parking or reconstruct the street. Instead, they chose to slightly widen the existing western bike lane (Option 4, attached). You can watch the discussion portion of the meeting here, which includes a presentation by Taylor on behalf of the Edina Transportation Commission.

We are deeply disappointed by this decision. It locks in a street design for the next 10 to 20 years that compromises cyclist safety and fails to advance the city's stated goals of advancing health, equity, and sustainability.

On a positive note, we are incredibly encouraged by the strong community response since launching the Edina Bike Alliance last month. We remain confident that the majority of Edina residents support a safe, connected bike network for all ages and abilities, and this setback will not deter us from pursuing that goal.

We will follow up soon with details on how you can help support safe streets for two upcoming roadway improvement projects planned for 2027.

Best,

Jake & Taylor
